Modèles et valeurs masculins dans les manuels d'Histoire espagnols (1931-1982)

Abstract : Historians have stressed the importance, for the Franco regime, of the (re)construction of a national manhood thought as decadent. The issue of receiving officially proclaimed manly models, however, has been little studied to date. This work studies the conquest in 1939 of textbooks of History by warrior heroes, close to gendered conceptions of officers, as well as the parallel marginalization of women in the historical narrative. But it also shows that the teachers who wrote these books never completely renounced their own male ideals. It highlights the difficulty of the Franco regime, a weak ideological coherence’s regime, in proposing convincing male models.
