Environnement de la Terre primitive : Comment construire une planète habitable ? Groupe de Recherche : « Mécanismes géodynamiques de la Terre primitive »

Abstract : The Earth, which is characterized by an active mantle convection coupled to plate tectonics, is unique in the Solar System. Such mecanisms obscure our understanding of the Earth’s early history 4.5 Ga ago. The evolution of our planet depends on the nature of the parent bodies that have accreted to form the Earth. Then the Earth has differentiated to form the crust, mantle and the core, as well as its outer envelopes (hydrosphere and atmosphere). It is the interactions between these different envelopes that have led and controlled the emergence of life, but also its evolution to the present day. In this contribution we will retrace the history of the Earth from its formation to the development of the first environments favorable to life. This story is told through research conducted at the Laboratoire Magmas et Volcans of the “Université Blaise Pascal” and the CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique).
